A subscription that renews itself: how to switch it on, and why it pays more

The fan authorises once and every renewal after that goes out on its own. Recurrence is your switch: 61 of the 165 active subscription plans already have it on, and they accounted for 30% of every renewal ever paid.

Yes, and it is already live: the fan authorises the debit once and every renewal after that goes out on its own, at the plan’s original price, until he cancels. What almost nobody knows is that this is your switch — a plan is born non-recurring by default, and only becomes automatic when you turn recurrence on.

The number that decides whether it is worth switching on

Across the whole MemberVIP base, plans with auto-renewal are under 2% of subscriptions — and they still accounted for 30% of every renewal ever paid on the platform. That is nearly a third of the returning revenue coming out of a sliver of the base: most of the market simply has not flipped the switch.

Among subscription plans adoption is already much higher: 61 of the 165 active plans — 4 in 10 — have recurrence on. These are 100% real transactions: every renewal here was someone actually paying, not filling in a questionnaire.

How a recurring plan works

  • The fan authorises once. On card the authorisation sits with the issuer; a Brazilian fan can approve Pix Automático straight in his banking app.
  • The next charge goes out by itself, at the plan’s original price, with nothing for you to ask and nothing for him to click.
  • It reaches you as “🔁 Automatic renewal” — kept separate from “🌟 New sale”, so you can see how much of your revenue is recurring.
  • Access extends with no gap: the fan never leaves the channel and never has to be put back in.

How the non-recurring plan works — and why it exists

The default is non-recurring on purpose: plenty of fans want to pay once and authorise nothing. On that plan every cycle is a new purchase, and the system does not leave the fan to notice on his own: with less than 24 hours to go he gets a message in your voice already carrying the renewal payment and QR code, and the moment access ends he gets another one, also with the payment. The exit is never silent — it is the last chance to renew.

Fans on the automatic plan are left out of those notices, and that is correct: the provider has already charged, and a reminder would only push him to pay twice.

What changes when you raise your price

A renewal is a new contract and follows the current price. If you raised the subscription price, the notice and the charge go out at the new amount, and the fan reads what it now costs before deciding. An old subscriber’s locked-in price does not survive your increase — the price is yours.

Cancelling belongs to the fan, and it really cancels

He cancels from the Telegram bot or by talking to your AI, and the cancellation releases the authorisation at his own bank or card issuer, not only in our records. That is what prevents the case where someone cancels, believes it is done, and keeps being debited — and it is what keeps your reputation clean with the people who leave.

Switching it on, in three steps

  • Turn recurrence on in the subscription plan. It is the only thing separating automatic from one-off; the default is off.
  • Price it for the whole cycle — recurrence wins on the accumulation, not on the first sale.
  • Keep a one-off plan alive too, for the fan who just wants to pay once. Both live in the same catalogue.
MemberVIP base — 100% real transactions (measured 15/09/2026): 61 of 165 active subscription plans have recurrence on · subscriptions with auto-renewal are under 2% of the base and accounted for 30% of all renewals paid · automatic renewal runs on card or Pix Automático, at the plan’s original price, until the fan cancels.

Frequently asked questions

Does my fan have to pay again every month?

It depends on how your plan is set up. On a plan with recurrence switched on, the fan authorises once and the next charge goes out on its own — card, or Pix Automático for Brazilian fans — until he cancels. On a plan without it, every cycle is a fresh payment, and the system sends him the payment ready before it expires.

Can a subscription renew itself over Pix?

Yes. Pix Automático is Brazil’s bank-authorised direct debit: the fan approves it once in his banking app and the following renewals go through with no clicks, at the plan’s original price. Outside Brazil the same behaviour runs on card.

How do I switch auto-renewal on?

It is a setting on the plan, and the default is off — a plan created without it sells a one-off payment with manual renewal, by design. Switch recurrence on in the subscription plan and it starts selling as recurring from then on.

What happens if I raise my price?

A renewal is a new contract and follows the current price: if you raised it, the notice and the charge go out at the new amount and the fan is told what it now costs before he decides. A subscriber’s locked-in price does not survive your price increase.

Can the fan cancel?

He can, from the Telegram bot or by talking to your AI — and cancelling releases the authorisation at his own bank or card issuer, not just in our records. That is what stops someone from being charged after he thought he had cancelled.

On a non-recurring plan, is the fan left without warning?

No. Anyone without auto-renewal gets two event-driven notices in your voice: one when there are less than 24 hours left, already carrying the renewal payment and QR code, and another the moment access ends, also with the payment. The exit is never silent.
